Lactohale® 201

Milled lactose that has a higher degree of cohesion

Lactohale® 201 is hard milled lactose which enables the mean particle size to be tightly controlled below 50 microns. During milling fine lactose particles are produced which can then be removed by airclassification to give the required profile.Lactohale® 201 is achieved by milling harder than Lactohale® 200 so the D50 is below 50 microns. The milling process allows the D50 to be reduced to the desired level.

    What is the difference between Pharmatose® and Lactochem® on one hand and Respitose® and Respitose® and Lactohale® on the other hand?

    Pharmatose® and Lactochem® are brands for tableting grade lactose that is designed for oral dosage applications. This means that it will be swallowed and enter the digestive tract and meets the current requirements of the USPNF/Ph.Eur./JP. Respitose® and Lactohale® are brands designed for inhalation applications and as there is a chance that some of the material will be inhaled then the microbiological requirements are tighter. Respitose® and Lactohale® also has a tighter particle size distribution to enhance its performance in inhaled devices.
